MORE Ghosts!!
All on -4 DEC 05 -My Account- show as 'Pending'

2.58.46 UTC 4 WUs
2.38.05 UTC 3 WUs
2.12.17 UTC 1 WU
2.04.43 UTC 3 WUs
But BOINC Manager only shows pending WUs all with due date 31 DEC 05.
Previous advised 'Ghosts' are slowly going into the red.

There also seem to be more WUs listed in My Account with pending date of
31 Dec than there are outstanding in BOINC Manager, but I have returned some today so maybe they have not registered yet.

Currently running 5.2.13

There is a "general" problem occurring with some network activities. This was in the Developers thread. All I can say is some of the best networking minds I know of in the BOINC Community are looking at some of these problems. You just may be one of the unlucky few that have these problems.

The best news is that they are looking for people that are interested in trying to track down the cause of the problem. The two that I know that are involved are Celtic Wolf and Ian Tighe.

So, if you are interested in trying to help locate this problem, will run tests for them, and send them some log information ... well, the world needs YOU!

I put my money where my mouth is... I sent an email to Celtic Wolf Dec 5 and included all the info he/she requested (your referenced SETI thread). I do not participate in SETI and do not have an account. I yet have no reply from Celtic Wolf. He/She may not be interested in folks like me who are not SETI hosts.

I would say that 99.99999% of the people that try to help other participants are project agnostic. Celtic Wolf does 4 projects, though not Rosetta@Home at least not under that name :)

Seriously, like I try to add material to the Wiki to help people with most projects I am willing to bet he will answer. The thing is, unlike me, he probably has a life ... :)

Even though I don't, there are only so many hours in a day ... I have been working on as many as 5 different problems with people, trying to fix the Wiki, and trying to hold onto what little sanity I have left ...

Anyway, patience is the keyword ...

As politicians like to say "I feel your pain". In case you missed it, see Bill Michael's response to me about resync'ing in msg id #5138, this thread.

Hi - for me at least the problem of ghosts may be resolved!!! I phoned my ISP helpline just now and apparently the local dial up numbers are faulty. I have now switched dial up numbers to another local location and got through straight away, previously there has been great trouble getting and keeping the connection. It could have been that the faulty line was the cause of my not receiving the WUs sent.Will just have to wait and see [ fingers crossed].

I spoke too soon. I see 3 WUs with deadline of 9.1.2006 on -My Account- but they are not on BOINC Manager.
