Have an old Quad Pentium Pro 200 MHz server up and running. Has the following: - Win2K Server - service pack 4 - 2 GB ram - have NOT installed Direct X 9.x Boinc is installed as a service. Can not view the graphics - when I click on "show graphics", screen changes so that you CAN NOT select "show graphics". Is this because it is a service, missing Direct X 9.x?????? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks |

You CAN view graphics when BOINC is installed as a service. Ignoring any security considerations (only applicable if you've setup BOINC to run in a "sandbox" account anyway), you can have BOINC service log-on as "Local system account" and then check the "Allow service to interact with desktop". i.e. Right-click MyComputer -> Manage -> Services -> right-click on BOINC service -> Properties -> goto "LogOn" tab -> ... do the changes described above. Works for me. PS: This is applicable to ALL BOINC science apps, not just Rosetta. PS2: I think the procedure is also described in BOINC-Wiki.
