With thanks to "mmciastro" for bringing this announcement to us. This just in from the BOINC developers. The link for the BOINC download site is here.

From Rom:

Howdy Folks,

I'm pleased to announce that BOINC 5.4 has been released on Windows,
Linux, and Mac.

This version has a little bit of something for everyone.

Here is a quick summary of new features:
1. You can use your favorite account manager to easily attach to new
projects. Please see BOINC for a list of account managers and what they
could be used for.
2. Better personal firewall support for the screensaver. For those who
were experiencing lockups when the screensaver was activated, this
release should fix that problem.
3. Preferences can be overridden when a global_prefs_override.xml is
specified. Please see Preference Override.
4. Better notification about BOINC's network access needs.
5. SOCKS5 proxies should now work properly.

Many small bug fixes went into the release to improve the overall
quality of our software. We hope everyone like the result.

If you use a proxy server you should hold off on upgrading until we have
resolved an issue with NTLM authentication. We should have a fix
available in a few days.

The development team would like to thank all those involved with testing
the latest generation of BOINC clients. Without all your hard work we
wouldn't have as high of quality product as we do today.

A short message about one workunit. It is completing
successfully on all clients. But one some
Windows machines, it appears to be grabbing and
excessive amount of memory as the workunit progresses.
If your computer is crunching a workunit
with the following name, please abort it, just in case:

t283__CASP7_MAPRELAX_...

We have canceled these jobs for now. Incidentally,
not too many of these work units have been sent
out, maybe 1000 out of the 100,000 in progress --
but we want to make sure there are no problems during CASP7.

Thanks! The TeraFLOPS estimate has exceeded 30 TFlops
thanks to your efforts and a record low error rate!

There is a new version of Rosetta being tested in Ralph for the Intel MAC. If you have an Intel Mac, and wish to test the new application for us, please attach to Ralph.

Please abort tasks with names like "DOC_????_R061030_st_mode_??", but NOT "DOC_R061113_***_fa_relax_from_native_bound".

We're having some problems with them running under v5.40 and passing the validator as they are reported. We've purged these from the server tasks pool to avoid further problems. But if you happened to get some of the docking st_mode tasks, please abort them from the BOINC Manager tasks tab.

Please abort tasks with names like "DOC_????_R061030_st_mode_??"

I have "Doc_????_st_model" tasks - are these ok to run?

P.S. We need a purge function!
P.P.S. Feel free to delete this post when clarified.

Appears there has been a typing error dc. I was just copying Chu's posts. Model... mode, ya I think that's the one to abort.

That is a typo. Should be "model" instead of "mode"
