Been searching everywhere, no clear answers ...

Do I install both BOINC-Client/Manager and VirtualBox from command line? From Ubunto Software? Either? One from each?

I am installing on a newly built Ubuntu 20.04.4 platform with no other purpose in life, just Rosetta.

Not asking for specifics, just the best approach.

Thx. - jc

The latest and greatest version of Boinc can be found at :-

https://launchpad.net/~costamagnagianfranco/+archive/ubuntu/boinc

Add his ppa to your repository list and then use synaptic package manager to install.

Personally I do not run the Python tasks which makes Rosetta a scarce resource but it seems from postings here that they fit best with an older version of VBox64 (5.x rather than 6.x). So, in the BIOS enable virtualisation, then load VBox then in the device page for your pc ensure that Python is enabled and you should be good to go.

Results from your suggestions were mixed, so I backed-out all of the changes are started over [without the recommended 'launchpad' piece].

A key step missing in all of the discussions I've read is that I needed to 'apt update' after the installs and then reboot. Without this step the B-Mgr does not see the VirtualBox. Probably unique to me.

I am now limping along on 3 Linux & 1 Win10 platform, doing what I can with 16 processors. As soon as I get an Ubuntu server running then the final conversion from Win begins.

Thank you for the assistance - and Synaptic.
