Every day I get a notice in BOINC Manager, "Virtual Box Not installed." I know it's not installed. I intentionally did not install it because Virtual Box bogs down this 10-year-old computer. Nevertheless, it was happily completing Rosetta tasks at a reasonable pace until a month or so ago. I'm sure it was working the less-demanding version of Rosetta that does not require Virtual Box. and was OK with this machine. But I have not seen a Rosetta of task of any kind for about a month. So does this mean I will never see another Rosetta task again? I ain't buying a new computer till this one finally gives up the ghost. It's been doing mostly BOINC 24/7/365 for 10 years and is a perfectly good computer. Should I just throw it away? I am sure I am not the only cruncher with an old computer who is still wanting to participate. Even those newer computers with more cores, more RAM, etc., we who have oldies but goodies are still capable of contributing large amounts of data. Why would Rosetta administers chose to cut us out? Rosetta 4.20 work has been very rare for many, many months now. It's not specific to your computer. If you aren't receiving work for Rosetta 4.20, it's because there isn't any available. |
