Message 107252 - Posted: 11 Oct 2022, 22:40:48 UTC

Hey guys is there anyway you can stop hijacking this thread and instead use it for what is is meant for? eg "Problems and technical issues with Rosetta@home".

By writing pages and pages of replies not related to supporting Rosetta, you actually make it far more difficult for those trying to get help, or those trying to help others.

Clearly everyone that speaks English has a view on this language, and how it is used; however this support thread is obviously not the place to have that discussion.
Bring it over here.

You could have named it the `incomprehensible gibberish thread`
I could feel quite @home here .

I make the rules and anyone not posting gibberish will be banned with immediate effect. Call me a rude word and I'll spank you senseless. And I mean physically.

I heard those recordings when I was in graduate school 35 years ago. I'll try to find them. If I find them, I'll post a link or maybe a PM.

My point is that you seem to refuse to recognize that languages evolve and that what they evolve into is not necessarily better or worse than what they evolved from.
America is world famous for screwing up everything, especially the English language.

People speak what they hear around them
Let me correct that for you. Low intelligence people speak the same as those around them.

Rude expressions of decades ago were the slang of yesterday and the acceptable speech of today.
You wouldn't think so, I got banned from a forum for saying "the weather is damn wet in Scotland".

You personally may not think American English is proper, but that is an ethnocentric bias. As you read this, you would have no idea whether the writer was British, American, Canadian, Australian or South African, except there might be a few minor differences in spelling. So am I communicating in proper English? You would not know unless I voiced this communication.
I can tell quite easily actually. The whole world can detect you lot a mile off.

By the way, talking about screw ups...aunty Liz sure made a mess of things. Bet your investment took a nice hit that day.

By dying? Oh, is royalty supposed to be everlasting?

We're run by a prime minister, the royalty [1] is to collect cash from American tourists. (That's terrorists in your pronunciation).

What investment? I've never invested in anything.

[1] Where do you think the world royalty comes from? As in "a payment made to writers, people who have invented things, owners of property, etc. every time their books, devices, land, etc. are bought or used by others"

The Royalty takes your money as well from the taxes.

What investment? I've never invested in anything.

Your government pension

Sheep !
Plenty of sheep here in Cumbria .
Highly intelligent in animal cunning if they want to break through a fence or demolish a wall to see if the grass realy is greener on the other side .

£345 million a year = £5 a year each. I don't think I notice it. Especially as I don't pay tax.

Your being run by Male copy cat Trump in the past and now Female Trump.
I wish, then we wouldn't have tax burdens like royalty and the NHS.

Your government pension
A free gift.

Perhaps it means they Royals collect royalties from the lower classes.

Do you have to use colours instead of just the quote tag?
