Hi,

Can we get a secure login to our web accounts? I notice that Rosetta/Boinc uses OpenSSL when transmitting data from our PC's, but we have to enter our account passwords in clear text over the website.

If there isn't an ssl certificate for https://boinc.bakerlab.org yet, they're dirt cheap from godaddy.com.

Thanks,

Ed

I will bring your question to the attention of the system administrator.

EDIT: I have word back that they are looking into this issue, and discussing how to proceed.

Hi, I manually switched the login url to use https today as a test. It complained about mismatched security certificates, but it worked.

I think a 'Secure Login/out' link should be added to the navigation of the screen since most people are not aware that secure login is now available.

Thanks,

Ed

Securing your web accounts is crucial to protect your personal information. Start by using strong, unique passwords for each account and enabling Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) wherever possible for an added layer of security. A password manager can help you generate and store complex passwords, making it easier to manage them. Be vigilant against phishing attempts by verifying links and URLs before entering login details. Regularly monitoring account activity for any unauthorized access can also help you spot issues early and prevent breaches. Following these steps will greatly enhance your online security.

Thank You

Hi Ed,

Thanks for reaching out. Secure login is essential, and I understand your concern. Currently, our website does not use SSL for secure connections, but we are actively looking into implementing an SSL certificate to ensure data is transmitted securely. We appreciate your patience and will work to address this issue promptly.

Best regards,
