I know others have reported Rosetta crashing when it pauses and gets removed from memory. I just got home from work and checked my Linux system (Boinc CC 4.72 - compiled myself) and see it ran benchmarks automatically today. It paused Rosetta and removed it from memory. Then it ran benchmarks and continued on its merry way. The WU completed without error.

Here is the output from stdout:

2005-10-14 08:59:29 [---] Suspending computation and network activity - running CPU benchmarks
2005-10-14 08:59:29 [rosetta@home] Pausing result 1bmbA_abrelax_36336_0 (removed from memory)

Do you run only rosetta@home on that computer?

Its sort of random if its going to error out or not. Sometimes it survives the removal from memory (with possibly a setback to the beginning of that section), sometimes it doesn't. My experiance is that about 10% of the time, it doesn't.

Yes, I do. Actually, my resource share for Rosetta is 9997, Predictor is 20 and SETI is 10. That means I run Rosetta almost 100% of the time but Predictor will be a backup if Rosetta goes down and SETI after that. I will get a Predictor and a SETI workunit every once is a great great while. But, it is essentially 100% Rosetta.

I crunch many BOINC Projects and had statred Crunchin Rosetta but then problems started shortly after I joined so I stopped crunching, the other day I thought I would download a few just to see if anything had been improved yet.

My 1st WU failed after swapping to another project, and the 2nd Work unit happily swapped with another project and then swapped back to carry on crunching on the next swap the WU failed.

So again for now ive got the project on hold

I run Rosetta (50), SETI(50), amd Predictor(25) on a WXP Pro box. Rosetta is crashing 99.9% of the time. I'm not sure when it crashes. I just know it does because I get the "program crashed" sound and the little error dialog. When I check my stats all but one states there was a client error. Is there a fix for this? I would like to contribute but if it's never going to succeded there's not much point.

I have Rosetta on a Win XP Pro box and on a g5 iMac. The XP Pro can only get a successful Rosetta workunit done if I leave applications in memory (which makes the computer performance unacceptable). The iMac isn't having this problem.
