Thus, manually aborted, after 3 hours of CPU IDLE !
https://boinc.bakerlab.org/rosetta/result.php?resultid=24659040

Rosetta 5.22 Windows -:(

Thanks,

Hi! mod, the thread of stuck & aborted WUs
is getting 10 minutes to download on my 28800 bps dialup !
So,
I started this new one,
to report WUs stuck at 74.101% with 0.000% of CPU usage -:)

I hope this new one will be keept small !

Maybe not just a Rosetta problem - see this thread http://boinc.berkeley.edu/dev/forum_thread.php?id=921 although I note that on this wu you were using 5.5.0 - I have noticed this problem since upgrading to 5.4.9

Carlos,

If Rosetta wasn't using your CPU time, what was?? Sometimes another program gets stuck and steals all the cycles. Another thing that has happened to me once or twice is that the system idle process takes the cycles, and BOINC makes no move to use them. When this happens, I shut down BOINC, and then restart it (ie give it a kick in the pants)... that almost always gets it going again.

Good luck!

No other program was using my CPU time

In fact the CPU get cold, in a risk of cracking silicon
an rendering my PC innoperant

Overall system response was then, very quickly (fast)

After aborting this one, the next crunched OK -:)

This is probably a known bug introduced in Rosetta 5.20. It was caught at RALPH and allegedly fixed but since then it is sporadically reported here at Rosetta. I hope they will find the cause and fix it permanently.

We are not using the stuck and aborted Work Unit thread for reporting. Error reporting for ANY error type is done in one of the threads linked from Here.

I will move your post to that thread. If I don't the project team may not see it.

In any case, you do not need to load the entire thread to post. There should be a button at the top of your browser window that will allow you to stop the loading of a web page. If you wait until the page starts to load (say 10 seconds) and then stop the loading process, you can then just post to the thread without loading the whole thing.
