How long are the current v4 clients going to be functional with R@H? Since our machines install the client on startup if it isn't installed, we'd need to recreate that script for the new version. . which isn't something we'd be able to do in a short period of time.

Just looking ahead. Thanks :)

One of the changes in version 5 is that the artificial barriers to running different major versions were removed. So the version 4 clients could possibly continue working for a long time.

I would change that script to install the latest recomended client on new installs though. That way if it does become required there will be less hosts to find and update manually. Assuming your script puts an account*.xml file into the BOINC directory and then installs the client it shouldn't be too hard to update the script whenever a new recomended version is released.
