Is it ok to run the BOINC manager, and also to activate the screen saver? I can have BOINC run just with the screen saver, or just with the manager.

My concern is what happens when I use the screen saver plus the manager? Would I be starting too many processes?

Thanks.

By the screen saver, I assume you mean the standard BOINC screen saver? (The Rosetta-specific one doesn't work on the Mac, yet, I believe.) If so, yes, I believe you can. I don't think it starts any additional processes, but that might be wrong?

I run it with the manager, myself. My Mac is my main computer, though, and I use a different screensaver, but I don't think it should cause any problems.

Edit: The screensaver works in the sense that it shows up when you click the "view graphics" button, but not as an actual screensaver. Thought I should clear that up.

Screen saver works fine on my mac.

I run the manager as well as the screen saver.

The screensaver essentially just shows you what is going on in the manager. It's not really much different than just clicking on the "show graphics" button and then maximizing the window. (Except that it disappears when you move the mouse or hit a key.)

[Edit: no extra processes are started, Stephen]
