Well 5.7.1 has been put up and the BOINC Simple GUI testing should be in it. Someone should also tell Rom to move it to the dev section and put 5.6.5 back ;-) So you can all test it and see what the BOINC interface is going to be like and comment back your opinions. Team mauisun.org |

Well 5.7.1 has been put up and the BOINC Simple GUI testing should be in it. I'm slow on the uptake (ignorant). Please translate the technical phrase "has been 'put up'? |

Rom Walton has posted it to the download.php pages. He did it so "boinc alpha testers" (like myself) can download it, try it out, find improvements/bugs, and report them back to be incorporated in the next "Alpha" boinc client. Some "non Alpha testers" also like to try out the newest version. Nothing stops them from doing so, but there is always the caveat "that this IS alpha software and you choose to use it "at your own risk"". |

Well 5.7.1 has been put up and the BOINC Simple GUI testing should be in it. 'put up' here would be interpreted as 'placed on the website for download' not a technical saying, probably an english saying. e.g. The announcement has been put up on the notice board. You can now read it and see what it is all about. I wouldn't use it as your main boinc installation, it's just there if you want to look at, see and test it out. But in the new 'face of boinc' the Simple BOINC GUI is it in, designed mainly by WCG & Rom. People like Rosetta@home will be able to get new icons ready for it and create a rosetta themed skin for it. We also get a few 'local preferences' to set directly now. Strange though how they are BOINC 'alpha' testers when it's in Beta (roms own words as well). Normally Alpha testing would mean the part Rom himself and the people helping put the initial parts to test together, i.e before it was put up on the testing site. And beta is the part when it goes to live testing (to the select boinc alpha testers). Mind you BOINC's terminology is messed up all over the place and not consistent ;-) Team mauisun.org |

There is NO Boinc Beta, only an Alpha. Next you'll be wanting to call a "Result" a "WU", or "work" a "task", or many other inconsistencies. LOL There IS a Rosetta Alpha, but no Beta. There's a Seti Beta, but no Alpha. LOL |
