Hi All
Rosetta 5.36 on intel p4 3.4ht
I keep getting computational errors, the workunits waiting to be processed have all flagged the error, and when reported( in the my account work unit view) the units show client error in the outcome column and compute error or done in the client state column.
The manager downloaded 30 more and straight away they all said computational error and it will not download any more as it states reached daily quota. The other computers are not having any trouble
Any help would be appreciated

The only time I've seen a machine run through... it's actually 100 WUs for the daily quota, the problem was cleared up by a reboot of the PC. After a day, your max download will go to 1, once that one reports back, it will be doubled, and doubled going forward as you report back successful results again. Until you get back to the 100 maximum per day.

This daily maximum helps prevent a PC such as yours that is having a problem from consuming all the WUs from the servers. And that's why SUCCESSFUL results are required to increase the amount of work the server will send to you. I believe once you restart the PC, and get work again, things should be fine. Just be aware it will be a day before you are allowed more work, and then probably only for one CPU, until that results is sent back.

Still no luck with program this morning
I have done a complete clean install of Boinc
Get the starting message "starting client version 5.4.11 for windows_intelx86" and associated messages libcurl etc files download then I get the error messages
"Cant create HTTP response output file projects/boinc.bakerlab.org_rosetta/rosetta_5.36_windows_intelx86.exe"

"couldnt start downloading of rosetta_5.86_windows_intelx86.exe"

"Url http://srv4.bakerlab.org/rosetta/download/rosetta_5.86_windows_intelx86.exe:system Fopen "

Have even tried copying the 5.86 file across from another computer but still get the same messages and it is still downloading files and getting the computational error and will use the daily quota up again.

Any suggestions please.
Malc

reasons i've had problems similar to this in the past are:

insufficient folder permissions - i.e. can't write to folder
opengl files missing from system32 folder (glu32.dll and opengl32.dll) - these should only be needed for the screensaver, but are called for whenever rosetta is running.

I thought I'd think of more than that, but I can't! There are other issues such as boinc preferences set to leave more disk space than available, but they should just cause the processing to stop.

I'll post back if i can think of anything else.

Thanks for the reply,I have also tried the repair option in add remove programs but that has not worked.
Dont use the screensaver. There is plenty of memory and disk space, the only thing I can think off is do a system restore, perhaps a system file is corrupted

Hopefully problem sorted,a system restore seems to have got it working again.it is now running tasks, but have to wait until tomorrow for more as the daily quota is reached, then see what happens.
edited to add
the restore has put the Boinc client back to 5.4.9 where as the problem seems to have come when 5.4.11 started to be used ,might be relevant!

Dont use the screensaver.

At the moment Rosetta requires those opengl files whether you use the screensaver or not (unless they've changed that in the last couple of weeks).

Hi Danny
appreciate what you are saying,it looks like something might have been corrupted in the 5.4.11 client rolling back to 5.4.9 seems to have cured it.
