I I'm a new Rosetta@home subscriber, and I'm wondering about how this work. I understand the way the CPU's change datas, but I do not understand if it is possible to predict the 3D structure of my own protein sequence. And If it is possible How can I do that? Thank you for your attention |

No, the protein sequences are a part of the work units assigned by the server. If you are a scientist, you may want to collaborate with Bakerlab. If you are just a very interested science buff, they are working towards an interactive game-like program that will let you control some of the folds performed and try different conformations. But I don't know if they plan to allow you to enter your own amino acid sequence. Rosetta Moderator: Mod.Sense |

When will we get this program? |

Certian types of folks can get a copy of Rosetta. Here's a link to more information: http://depts.washington.edu/ventures/UW_Technology/Express_Licenses/Rosetta/ |

When will we get this program? I haven't heard any dates thrown out yet. But it is something to look forward to. Rosetta Moderator: Mod.Sense |

Certian types of folks can get a copy of Rosetta. Unfortunately, when I looked into it, it excluded... very interested science buff ... types. I wanted to look at the technique from a non-biologists view. I believed then, and still believe now, that people with a different academic background may view the whole problem in a different way and see possibilities that biologists, with their biological "baggage" might never have thought of. Wave upon wave of demented avengers march cheerfully out of obscurity into the dream. |

I Predicting protein structure is a very computationally intensive process, so it could be difficult on your own. Check out our web service for structure prediction here if you're interested: http://www.robetta.org/ |
