This thread was just put up at SETI@Home for new users. While a lot of what it contains is SETI-specific, there is a lot of good information in there on BOINC in general, that our incoming find-a-drug friends might find helpful as well. |

It's very important in Rosetta@Home that you set the WU's to stay in memory while preempted in your preferences. The crunching time for Rosetta WU's differs a lot from each other. Some are very fast, and others are crunching for hours. If you get a feeling that there might be something wrong with a WU, that it might be stuck, check here on the Number Crunching board for eventually info about WU's with the same name/number. Another good advice is to set the time between switching between applications to at least 120 min (default 60 min). Happy crunching. :-) "I'm trying to maintain a shred of dignity in this world." - Me |

Rebirther asks - What is wrong with this WU? Bug or ? Good question. I will point it out to the project team. The benchmarks for the computer do not justify the sredits in any way, and neither does the reported CPU time. If I get an answer I will post it. Moderator9 ROSETTA@home FAQ Moderator Contact |

It's very important in Rosetta@Home that you set the WU's to stay in memory while preempted in your preferences. One WU is stuck *only* when its driving application (rosetta 4.80 or 4.81) is *not* eating any CPU - and the system is otherwise IDLE ! *on Linux u can force this by hand pkill -19 rosetta *and to recover from previous command and get the wu crunching again pkill -18 rosetta *when the WU is really stuck is does not respond to signal 18 Otherwise it is only a very loong WU and eventually it will finish OK Be patient ! I got one that used about 24 hours of cpu @ 5000 mhz to finish If u cpu is slower ... eg: 1 GHZ or less, it can delay a week to finish. Click signature for global team stats |
