Rosetta@home just asked to "follow" me in Twitter. I, of course, confirmed agreement to the request, and I also am following Rosetta@home in Twitter, and on Facebook, and in RSS feeds. So, if there is any significant news from this project, I will be pumping it up in my blog, http://sciencesprings.wordpress.com http://sciencespringe.wordpress.com http://facebook.com/sciencesprings |

Since this is major healing related project there can be many other motivational ways to enlist new army. |

I know that Rosetta sees the value of social media in spreading the word about the project. You have had some recent posts to your RSS feed. But you have not done anything in Facebook since December 10, 2010. It would sure be a good idea if you could put something about the science or the scientists out to the public. That is a great free way to get crunchers. I try to support all BOINC and WCG projects on my sciencesprings blog. If you put up anything significant I will see it in either Facebook or RSS and put out a post which will be read by about 1,000 people covering every continent. http://sciencespringe.wordpress.com http://facebook.com/sciencesprings |

I would like to pick up your news, "Jul 29, 2016 Another paper from the Baker lab in Science! Designed Protein Containers Push Bioengineering Boundaries." with the article from Institute for Protein Design which I just found in your RSS feed, and build it into a blog post. But there is so much created content there I would not touch it without express permission. On the blog it would go out to about 1,000 people who do not even no Rosetta@home exists. The post would also push the rest of BOINC and WCG. Please let me know. http://sciencespringe.wordpress.com http://facebook.com/sciencesprings |

I didn't know this existed until yesterday PBS studios specifically spacetime (on youtube) did an episode the other day +1 to them I'm thinking :) I'm hooked going to keep on going until we all know everything. Just an observation I've had with the software can progress or work done be more intuitive? I've found my way about a bit but for a short while I wasn't sure if results were being sent / completed I'm not looking for a pat on the back just want to know its all working just right. Not a criticism just an observation. I'm not really explaining myself very well I know. Have a great day |

Beyond that no one knows the exact process except the Project people involved, but everything it being done on your end that you can. |

Well I expect Rosetta@Home is experiencing a surge from people who want to support the Coronvid19 research but under BOINC rather than Folding@Home. Tom Help, my tagline is missing..... Help, my tagline is......... Help, m........ Hel..... |

I wonder if you are aware that the link in your signature is wrong... "sciencespringe" vs. "sciencesprings" |

I just started on this project yesterday. I don't understand what the scientists do, or even need with my computer, but I will gladly use my 1700.00 build to help them do their job. I can't stand sight of blood, I can't even watch the ER tv shows, LOL, ( I was the kid running down the hallways yelling "you ain't gonna stick me with that needle"), ya, with extra nurses around, I still got stuck. Happy to donate all the time you need with my Ryzen 9 3900x, 64G ram (if you need a spare server let me know, am planning on adding 10-20TB raid here) also will be making another 3900x after I get my still built. (shhh)... Two beer, or not 2 beer... Hell yes, it's beer... |

I just asked Paul from Paul's Hardware, and his partner Bitwit, if they could maybe mention Rosetta@Home on their YouTube channels. Because what else you gonna do with a brand new computer build, that could be more important than helping your fellow man? My doctor says alcohol is not the answer: I replied "That's great, because I didn't ask alcohol any questions". |

So, I have a question......are we done with breaking down COVID 19 units? I haven't had any new units download to me in almost 24 hours. It's a pity because this CPU is a 3.6 ghtz running at 4.5 ghtz. overclocked and processes 8 units at a time. Does anyone know if there are going to be more units to break down in the near future? Thank you for any help anyone can provide! |

Thank you for any help anyone can provide! The good news is we've pretty much completed all the tasks the Project has currently put out. A few tasks are still to be returned from all contributors, but near enough by the morning. And everyone's ready to process any fresh tasks that are issued. Trouble is, tasks aren't ready to be issued just yet. Because tasks come from a variety of sources on different timescales, we don't know when new tasks will arrive and whether there'll be enough to keep us all occupied in the way we have been for several months solid. We can only be patient, knowing Boinc polls regularly to grab tasks whenever they do come through. Until then, you can either give your PC a break or join another project as a backup for when we occasionally have downtime like this. A current favourite is World Community Grid's sub-project called Open Pandemics, which is also targeted at Covid19 |

I don't know who to address this to but I have had a lot of difficulty trying to run Rosetta@Home work units on my PCs (using Linux Mint Mate 19.3 on both Intel and AMD quad CPUs). I get various error messages like "VM job unmanageable Will restart later." Also get WU job status message "Waiting for memory" when there is more than one R@H WU. Seems like running R@HWUs are not getting done, too. The remaining time estimates are too low compared to actual run times. I find many of the message threads are over my head. I get the impression that R@H is oriented toward advanced savvy users. However I am not exactly an amateur either. I ran 4000 Folding@Home WUs and am now running several BOINC projects, from astronomy and cosmology to climate prediction and math. |

It is best to put questions like this in the `Number crunching` forums . I don't think anyone has a full cure for the "VM job unmanageable Will restart later." problem as it happens in a random way , restarting boinc sometimes helps rosetta python workunits demand 2.7GB of memory each even though they use less than 1GB to safely run fore pythons on a quad you need at least 12GB of memory allowing for os and anything else you may be doing I see you have 6GB in two of them 12GB in the win10 system python work units are greedy things and have caused many problems for many crunchers Their run times can be short or a lot longer than the estimate Or crash within seconds of starting and never finish even after days of not realy running at all and have to be aborted to get rid of them . |

OK, thanks for that info. On my latest and final Rosetta work unit I noticed that it took longer and longer for the estimated remaining time to decrease by just one second, namely 15 minutes for a one second decrease after running for 5 days. I was hoping it might get done but I did an update and the project dropped that work unit. I will shift to other BOINC projects such as Cosmology. I see that WCG just came back online, too. It's been real. |
