I began working on projects controlled by BOINC about a month after spending time at SETI and a project called FaD in England. I'm only participating in Rosetta and Einstein and have found BOINC to be an amazing program. This morning when I uploaded 3 or 4 completed Rosetta jobs I received a 5 or 6 MB download in return. 2 new jobs appeared on the work page and rather than having a name such as 1ogw_topology_sample_218_5360_0 for example, these new jobs were labeled DEFAULT_dcj_218_5360_0. It was the DEFAULT that I was curious about. Is this designation normal? Also, yesterday I attempted to post to the BOINC forum and was told to log in with my email and PW I was certain what address I used but I received a message to the effect no just address found. I tried every address I have, same result. I then searched the BOINC folder for any of the addresses and none were found. Not even in the account Rosetta or account Eistein xml files. I even ran a search for the @ symbol and found no email addresses at all in the BOINC folder. The addresses must be somewhere as I can log in to the Einstein and Rosetta forums, but not BOINC. F. Is this designation normal? yes, there is a new submission process that has just come online which generates these DEFAULT WUs Also, yesterday I attempted to post to the BOINC forum and was told to log in with my email and PW I was certain what address I used but I received a message to the effect no just address found. The xml files store your account key, not your email/password. You can still sign into Rosetta using this account key, and then change your password and email after. The BOINC boards require a separate account from any of the projects - if you have not created an account there, you need to go here and create an account before you can post. If it can't find your email address, you probably have never registered it there. |

Thanks Bill, Andrew, I've been using the BOINC software of over a month only to find out I forgot to set up an account that would give me access to the BOINC forum. I must have been in quite a rush. As for the DEFUALT jobs, I've downloaded some on another machine now and they seem to be as you as you suggested, normal jobs. thanks, F. Prefect |
