The group would be better off paying me NOT to come to work! -KEL If you work, you can do errors. If you do nothing, you can't. So, continue to work :-P |

Hey team, may we have some updates about the clients, preferences and so on? all the posts here in the forum are old... older than the universe. so please tell us about actual default and best preferences to get most points out of WUs, some general news would be nice, what are you working on to improve performance (maybe more/less RAM, AVX2, dont know... just ideas), are there graphics comming für linux clients, tell us something.... best regards. There was a lecture at a Mensa Regional Gathering a few years ago entitled "Why Smart People Do Dumb Things." I missed the lecture, too. |

This thread is eleven years old and entirely irrelevant to the status of Rosetta@home in 2021 There is currently no work available. Try again in a couple of days’ time. |

It's now the weekend. So you can forget about getting any work. This is typical of RAH. They don't know the problem exists until their results start coming back slow or someone knows how to get ahold of someone in the group. Maybe Monday morning or afternoon pacific time (-8 hrs GMT) they will do something about it. Meanwhile, find something else to keep your computer busy. SiDock can always use your system for their Corona work. |

Hi there. I'm sorry if this isn't the right place to post this, but it is a technical question and I can't find a way to start a new thread! I just got a message saying that the project wants more room than I have. rosetta python projects needs 10460.68MB more disk space. You currently have 8612.81 MB available and it needs 19073.49 MB. I have over 500gb free on a terabyte hard drive, so I don't think that my lack of space is the real culprit! Could you look into this please? Thank you Dmouse65 |

That message refers to RAM and not disk space. You'll have to wait until more work for the standard Rosetta app becomes available. |

That message refers to RAM and not disk space.Nah, that is a disk space issue. I'm guessing it wants to download the disk image for VirtualBox. Grant Darwin NT |

Hi there. I'm sorry if this isn't the right place to post this, but it is a technical question and I can't find a way to start a new thread! I just got a message saying that the project wants more room than I have. You might have that much free space, but if you don't let BOINC have access to it, then it can't make use of it. Normal BOINC Tasks don't need that much space, however we are out of Rosetta 4.20 work at the moment and the only work left are Python Tasks which require the use of VirtualBox, which does require huge amounts of disk space, and it will also require massive amounts of RAM (roughly 7.5GB per Task- normal Rosetta 4.20 Tasks average around 1.3GB per Tasks. Some a lot more, most a lot less). Go to Your account (click on your name at the top right corner of this web page), under Preferences, When and how BOINC uses your computer, click on Computing preferences, near the bottom click on "Edit preferences", under Disk, "Use no more than" set to 25GB, "Leave at least xx GB free" set to 20GB, and "Use no more than xx% of total, try 60% And for Memory, set "When computer is in use, use at most" and "When computer is not in use, use at most" to 95 % And to avoid missing deadlines, under Other, set "Store at least x.xx days of work" to 0.10 and "Store up to an additional x.xx days of work" to 0.01 as Rosetta has 3 day deadlines. Click on the "Update preferences" button. The next time BOINC contacts the Scheduler, it will get the new settings (or if you select Rosetta in your BOINC Manager, and click on update). That message refers to RAM and not disk space.Nah, that is a disk space issue. The VDI files are around 10 GB cobined. If you have a terrabyte drive with lots of space free, then BOINC is confused. Did you partion the drive into segments? How big of an area is allocated to RAH? On my drive RAH folder takes 13.7 GB compressed space. Actual size is 30.7 GB according to windows. I have a 208 GB digital drive and have no problems. |
