This is caused when the time between contacts with the server is too short. If the system thinks you already have work on your system, and you try to get more before you report all your Results, it will tell you that by using the message you describe. If you look at the Projects tab in the BOINC manager, it will usually also show that communications with the project will be delayed for some period of time. If you try to connect (Update) before that time runs out you will get the message again and it will reset the wait clock to 0 and start all over again waiting.

You could try updating you connection interval in your prefs and updating the project, and then waiting to see if it will give you more work. Sometimes it will sometimes it won't.

Welcome to Rosetta!

When you run more than one project on a machine, BOINC allocates crunch time to try and balance all of the conflicting deadlines and goals of matching your resource shares, and server downtime etc.

When you click update on the projects tab, and you see the message that no new work is being requested, what it means is that the BOINC manager has determined that the next day or so will be spent crunching on the other projects, and therefore no new work is needed for Rosetta.

I find it a little confusing as well. I'd prefer to keep a few WUs on hand for each project, but BOINC doesn't always "think" that way. It looks ahead and says "I'm going to be spending the next 1.5 days on project A and B, so I don't need any WUs for Rosetta (project C)".

...if you want to TRICK the manager... go to the projects tab, suspend one or more other projects, then update with Rosetta, and resume the suspended projects.

Keep crunching Rosetta!
