Does anyone know if there is a way to disable it? Every time I accidentally drag the mouse through it, as when going to click on another icon, it comes up, and I have to close it. It's getting kind of annoying. Thank you. |

The only way I know of is to recompile BOINCManager yourself with either the option to do it or with it just removed. Unfortunatly Rosetta@homre has littel control over this other then maybe putting the suggestion forward to the boinc developers. The other way is to not use BOINCManager, explained later. What's you level of BOINC knowledge? The icon you see opens up Boinc Manager, this is just a front end program allows you to contol boinc.exe and see what it is up to. It also starts it for you, but it is not actually needed for it to run. You can either resinstall 'boinc' and select to run it as a service, this is one of the easier ways. Then if you want to monitor boinc you can launch boinc manager from the start menu and close it when done without effecting boinc from running in the background itself. You can then start and stop boinc.exe using 'sc start boinc' and 'sc stop boinc' from Start->Run (without the ''s :-) If you don't want to run boinc as a service there is another way by creating a shortcut to boinc.exe adding -redirectio to the end of the shortcuts porgram address (in is properties). Then use that shortcut instead of the boincmanager short cut. Either way allows you to use boincmanger to view what is going on (or some other programs like BoincView). Team mauisun.org |

Thank you for the response, FluffyChicken. I completely forgot the fact that BOINC and Rosetta@Home are two different things. I feel a little bad that you took so much of your time to explain all that... It's pretty much over my head. Maybe the BOINC programmers will see this and consider adding a "Disable Balloon Tips" in their options. Again, thank you very much. |
