I downloaded BOINC last night, when I got up this morning, I moved the mouse, and after 2 seconds a screen appeared, showing how much work had been done etc, no matter what I did I could not get rid of it, had to switch computer off. O/S. Windows XP 2 Sorry if this has been asked before, but I dont have time to plough through reams of FAQs |

Hi Stu, do you have an ATI graphics card and set the Rosetta screen saver as your default? This often happens when using that combination, it seems to be a general BOINC problem if I remember correctly what I also read in the Seti boards. If this is the case, a solution is to turn the screen saver off. Of course many people like to watch the Rosetta graphics (I do so sometimes, but very rarely and then just for a short glimpse), but the saver consumes quite a lot of resources for the graphical display and slows down calculations anyway. Regards, Christoph |
