I attached to this project today and although my first Rosetta wu seems to be crunch away ok I noticed this in (red) the messages in the BOINC Manager when downloading the inital Rosetta setup: Curl error: a libcurl function was given a bad argument.

I've searched around the Rosetta website for a clue and also checked out the unofficial BOINC wiki to no avail.

The computer is a 3.0 HT P4 running Win XP Pro (drivers current), and I'm using BOINC 5.6.5 installed as a service.

Perhaps does the error have to do with using the service install (no graphics)? If that is the case then everything is well and good.

No, it has to do with using boinc 5.6.5, in that version they changed to a newer libcurl to enable the file upload/download restrictions to work again (it is broken in 5.4.9/11), unfortunatly it introduced this error.

Either just ignore it or install the official release version (5.4.11 for windows, 5.4.9 for other OS's)
5.6.5 is a development version still.
