With this fixed, you should see your computers running miniRosetta calculations on CASP targets very soon! Great news! Any idea when CASP targets will be released for Fold It? |

Do all CASP targets have the mention Txxx (x=number of target) in the WU name? Or are the recent hxxx (x=number of target) CASP targets too? Thanks CASP 7 had a mention about CASP in the graphics, it would be cool if this would come back or the wu name would include the mention "casp". |

As of friday, all casp8 WU should have casp in the WU name. we are working on getting the foldit graphics into the screen saver; more casp related info will follow after we get this done. |

"we are down to the last week or so of CASP8! one great thing about casp this year is the many new ideas that have come up during the process, and we are all excited to test these ideas systematically once casp is over. so be ready for a flurry of testing of new methods in August--I'm optimistic this will lead to significant improvements in protein structure prediction!" Thank you for the update, Dr. Baker. Would it be possible to know a bit more about these ideas? Anything truly radical, or most incremental improvements? |

The new ideas span a pretty wide range--both improving the search through possible conformations, and the underlying energy function itself. In addition to talking to everybody in my group about their research projects, I like to have a project to work on myself, and for the last several months I've been working to improve the Rosetta energy function by bringing together all of the different sources of information about proteins. I'm very optimistic about my new developments, but I won't know for sure until the rosetta@home tests next month. |
