I noticed today that there was the Sci App running was Rosetta Beta 5.70. Is Ralph not working or has that stopped? While some people may not mind I prefer to maximise my contribution where possible. As long as someone is considering this seriously before sending out Beta units Im all for it though. Science is what its about but wasting resources wont help along the way. |

I noticed today that there was the Sci App running was Rosetta Beta 5.70. Is Ralph not working or has that stopped? This was posted on the Front Page News quite some days ago June 26, 2007 Rosetta@home has been updated to version 5.70. This version includes some new features in the RNA and symmetry modes. We are also testing the possibility of running some workunits with the old app (5.68) and another set of new workunits with the new app (5.70) to help us continue long-term studies and test new features simultaneously. For details, see this thread. The 'this thread' link does not cut&paste, but it is this post it specifially is on about; https://boinc.bakerlab.org/rosetta/forum_thread.php?id=1449&nowrap=true#42675 Rosetta@home has been updated to version 5.70. This version has some bug fixes for the RNA ab initio folding and symmetric folding and docking mode. We've also tried to fix some of the jumping around of the rmsd trajectory (the right hand rectangle), though the scaling still isn't perfect. Finally, we are also able now to model protein complexes with a different kind of symmetry than before. Another interesting change: we are now able to send out workunits with the older application (5.68) and the newer one (5.70). This is advantageous because the older one is "stable" and lets us carry out long-term experiments such as looking for very rare low energy conformations with hundreds of thousands of workunits over several months. The new one has bug fixes for some modes as well as new features. The new one will be called "rosetta_beta_5.70" -- you can check out this link to see what's crunching. Team mauisun.org |

The application name is actually a sign to you that the Project Team is doing exactly what they tested on Ralph. Right down to the second application's name. In the future, they will use a second name which does not have the word "beta" in it when they release it on Rosetta after the testing on Ralph. Rosetta Moderator: Mod.Sense |
