I noticed that my BOINC is no longer downloading task. I tried to update it and it says 'Communication Deferred' Why is this? Any good explanation please. and advice so that my boinc and computer will continue working some tasks. Thank you. |

The queue of work is presently empty. A very rare occurence for Rosetta. But if you change your preferences to keep some extra tasks (i.e. additional work days) then you'd still be crunching right now. Consider upping it to at least .5 days. <edit> Looks like work is flowing again. Rosetta Moderator: Mod.Sense |

Hello Warren. Communication Deferred is a method that BOINC uses to prevent the project servers from being overloaded with requests. If your BOINC client contacts the server at a time when the server is too busy, it will get a Communication Deferred signal for a random amount of time. When that time has passed, it will try again. If the server is still too busy, it gets another Communication Deferred signal, but for a longer random time. This process repeats until the server is able to handle your BOINC client's request. You don't have to do anything to resolve it. The process is automatic. If you have questions like this in the future, you may wish to post them in the Number crunching forum, as you will probably get faster answers.
