Why is my average work done so low? I have an AMD Sempron 2600+ 64 bit processor, running Windows XP Professional x64 Edition, with 960 MB of Ram, and 17 GB of free space on my computer. I'm running BOINC Manager 6.2.18, dividing time evenly between SETI at home and Rosetta at home. I almost never use this computer...I just let it chug along for 18-24 hours a day running BOINC. My preferences are as follows; I don't understand why my average work done is very small fractions of what some other people seem to get. Is there some setting or other thing I should change, or is my processor really that puny?

Suspend work while computer is in use? no
'In use' means mouse/keyboard activity in last 15 minutes
Suspend work if no mouse/keyboard activity in last

Write to disk at most every 15 seconds
Use at most 75% of page file (swap space)
Use at most
Enforced by version 5.8+ 40% of memory when computer is in use

BOINC will try to maintain at least this much work.) 3 days

Enforced by version 5.10+ 10 days
Confirm before connecting to Internet?

Skip image file verification?
Check this ONLY if your Internet provider modifies image files (UMTS does this, for example).
Skipping verification reduces the security of BOINC. no

Thanks for any suggestions,

...but I should mention that I shut this computer off for about half the year each of the last two years. Does that affect my average work done?
